Commanders and Lions Send Stars to Reserve List

Washington Places DE Chase Young on PUP List

Commanders DE and star player Chase Young is set to miss the first four weeks on the 2022 season. Young tore his ACL last season against the Buccaneers and will start this year on the PUP list, sidelining him for at least a quarter of the season.

Young is a cornerstone on this defense, adding to a monstrous defensive line alongside Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. His presence will be missed, but it shouldn't cripple this team that has already done without him for so long. He will miss games against Jaguars, Lions, Eagles, and Cowboys at the very least. With two divisional games on this slate, Young could have been a difference maker Washington would need to make a playoff push in a weak NFC East, but without him, I would not be surprised to see the Commies come out of this at 2-2 at best.

Lions' Rookie WR Jameson Williams Still Recovering from ACL Tear

Similarly to Chase Yong, Jameson Williams is also recovering from an ACL tear from a year ago. The Lions took a swing at Williams this year in the draft knowing his injury concerns so this is not necessarily a surprise to Detroit.

Williams will miss, at least, games against the Eagles, Commanders, Vikings, and Seahawks. I do not foresee this being an issue because currently, the Lions are playing for nothing but pride. Losing Williams here is really only sad for fans who want to see a shimmer of hope for this organization.

My hope for Detroit is that Williams' injury luck does not hinder his snaps in the future like another high draft pick from Detroit, CB Jeffery Okudah. Okudah suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries to both his groin and Achilles. Williams, to some, was considered the best WR in the draft and hopefully, he will make an impact on this crafty Lions team eager to succeed.
