Eagles Release Pair of Starting WRs
This past week the cap casualties have started. The Philadelphia Eagles have released WR Desean Jackson and plan to release WR Alshon Jeffery at the start of the league year. Both veteran receivers have constantly been injured and have not been contributing to the team very much. These moves confirm the Eagles taking their top WR prospect at #6 in the NFL Draft. Due to recent controversy surrounding Jackson, I don't expect him to have much market and would not be surprised to see him retire. Jefferey however, some have linked him to be a strong candidate to fill a roster spot for Baltimore in 2021.
Falcons Release Starting Safety Ricardo Allen
Ricardo Allen is no world-beater by far but this move is still confusing from a roster construction view. The Falcons have shallow depth at DB and many believe it would unwise to cut their starting Cornerback. By saving $6.25 million, Atlanta is doing what it can to save money wherever possible.
Panthers Make More Roster Cuts
In the past week, the Panthers have released two more veterans in addition to DT Kawaan Short. DE Stephen Weatherly and P Michael Palardy have been released to make more cap space available. Many believe these moves are getting Carolina ready to trade for QB Deshaun Watson as it's been leaked that Carolina is one of his top trade destinations.
Steelers Clear Air Surrounding 2021 QB Situation
After a meeting between Steelers' owner Art Rooney II and QB Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh has announced its plans for the passer to retain his position under center for 2021. These plans include an obvious restructure of Roethlisberger's contract to make it a more team-friendly deal that keeps them in contention for at least another season.
Isaiah Wilson Won't Return to Titans
Titans' first-round pick OT Isaiah Wilson has posted and removed a tweet stating that he'll "never play football for the Titans again". Wilson was selected 29th overall to compete for the role of starting RT, early in the season Wilson was placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list and then subsequently suspended by the team for violating team rules, post-suspension Wilson was then placed on the non-football injury list where he remained for the rest of the season. Wilson played in one game and logged FOUR total snaps and is trying to get the speed-run record for busts leaving their team.
Washington new name in 2022
Football Team no more. The WFT has declared they will officially rebrand in 2022. The franchise has opened its eyes to a fan-based naming contest. Red-Tails, Redhawks, Warriors, whatever it may be I'll be entertained from fan mock-ups of uniform concepts on Twitter
