Former hold-out S Derwin James has finally come to terms with the Los Angeles Chargers. James signed a 4yr $76.4M contract making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL.
While James has been injury-prone in his career he has been a dominant force when he is available. The Chargers have been able to lock up every one of their stars along with exciting young QB Justin Herbert on a rookie contract. Fandom aside, I wholeheartedly believe that this team is poised for their Super Bowl run even with the loaded AFC in front of them.
Some might not like the extent of this deal due to the aforementioned injuries leading to a huge backfire on the Chargers' part. In my opinion, the only difference between an always healthy James and the James we have in real life is that this extension would have come sooner.
