Jets Expect to Lose Crucial Offensive Piece, Josh Jacobs Trade Rumors

Jets' OT Becton Expected to Miss 2022 Season

Jets' OT Mekhi Becton left yesterday's practice with a leg injury that appears to be a fractured knee cap. Becton is to look for a second opinion and undergo surgery, however, the team is expecting the worst and that his season is over.

Losing Becton is huge for this New York offense that is trying to find its identity. Becton is one of the top young talents in his position and his injury leaves local big cat enthusiast Zach Wilson vulnerable in the pocket. With their 2nd string tackle Connor McDermott also battling injuries the Jets may have to find a replacement for this season. A few aging veterans are still on the market such as the former number one pick OT Eric Fisher, Duane Brown, & Jason Peters. These guys may not have much left in the tank but this may be the best they can do.

Raiders Shut Down RB Josh Jacobs Trade Rumors

Recently some NFL teams have contacted the Las Vegas Raiders in regards to the availability of RB Josh Jacobs. New Raiders HC Josh McDaniels has publicly shot down any idea of shopping Jacobs. The 49ers, Lions, and Eagles have been reported to be in on a Josh Jacobs trade to solve their rushing woes. Now the Lions and Eagles both have young backs trying to make a mark in D'Andre Swift and Miles Sanders respectively. Personally, I never think it's a good idea to privately shop for a replacement of a player that you've professed faith in only to have it leaked. It's one thing to have a fire lit under your ass but it's another to feel pushed out. The Eagles are especially guilty of this after their Wentz fiasco a few seasons ago. I would leave the jury out for another year or so before kicking the RBs out the door before jumping on a slightly better back you'd have to invest assets into.

The 49ers on the other hand have been well-known as a rotation backfield and can emotionally afford to shop for a back. Josh Jacobs would be a solid fit to help build around new starting QB Trey Lance. However, running backs are a dime a dozen and I'm sure they'll luck into one sooner or later. Jacobs is a luxury piece for most teams and I don't see any team willing to trade for whatever outrageous price the Raiders have for him. Look to see him in silver and black for at least the 2022 season.
