Ravens Extend K Justin Tucker
Earlier this week the Baltimore Ravens ink future HOF K Justin Tucker to a 4yr $24M contract. This makes him the highest-paid Kicker in the league and rightfully so. Tucker has been the best kicker in the league for most of his career and in my opinion slated himself as possibly the best kicker to ever do it. Tucker will be 33 this season and if he is anything like another all-time great Adam Vinatieri he should be ready to re-up in 2026. This is a great move for the Ravens as Tucker is virtually automatic inside 50yds and has often time been a difference maker in defensive standoffs where the offense has stalled. Look for continued success from Tucker this season.
Roquan Smith Requests Trade from Chicago
Bears' LB Roquan Smith has requested a trade from the team. Smith has been the lone bright spot on this roster since Khalil Mack's departure this offseason. He has stated he has been disrespected by the Bears front office by trying to underpay him and giving him ultimatums. This is a smart career move by Smith because no one should have to play for Chicago.
Trade Destination for Smith
Now the real question is who is willing to trade for the All-Pro LB? I offer one contending team as a suggestion; the Cincinnati Bengals. After a Super Bowl loss, the Bengals need to aim to avoid the deadly Super Bowl hangover that had plagued many teams causing them to never return to the limelight. This Cincinnati team needs to go the way of their victors, the Rams, and constantly be on the lookout for stars thrust out of their homes. They have the necessary assets to satisfy both the Bears and Smith. Smith adds an important playmaker to a defense that desperately needs someone at that second level.
Smith's value should be somewhere around a 3rd round pick and he should bust open the LB market with what I predict to be around a $15M/yr deal. Knowing the Bears sold Mack for cheap to the Chargers I'm doing whatever I can to make this deal happen to continue to be competitive in the AFC.
