San Francisco Adds Depth at Wide Receiver, Browns RB Holding In, and Kiko Alonso's Retirement

49ers Sign WR Willie Snead IV to One-Year Deal

Just as quick as San Francisco brought Willie Snead IV in for a workout he has been signed signed by the team. Snead signs a one-year deal with monetary value undisclosed as of now. Snead joins a solid WR room where he will have to work for targets. Snead spent last season as a part of the Carolina Panthers practice squad so I would not be surprised if he is rusty coming off of the bench for the 49ers. This is a very low-risk signing likely to be close to and more likely under a seven-figure salary for assurance if something happens to Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk. This could evolve into a great signing if Snead could return to his flashy play as a member of the Saints many years ago, but realistically he will not do much for this offense

Cleveland RB Kareem Hunt Looking for New Contract

Browns K/RB Kareem Hunt is entering the final year of a two-year deal he signed last season to back up RB Nick Chubb. Since departing the Chiefs, Hunt has been one of the league's best RB2s behind one of the most dominant rushing attacks in the past few seasons. I for one do not believe that Hunt has missed a step since his off-the-field altercation and still has what it takes to be a lethal weapon. The Browns should look to extend him before he hits the market where he will be paid quick. However, the Browns could turn to D'Ernest Johnson to fill his spot. This will be a tough decision for sure, but only time will tell which is the correct choice.

Update 8/7/22 12:31pm EST:
Kareem Hunt has asked for a trade from Cleveland, his request was denied.

Veteran LB Kiko Alonso Calls It Quits

Saints LB Kiko Alonso calls it a career after one practice with the team this offseason. Alonso is best known for the infamous LeSean McCoy trade conducted by then-Eagles HC Chip Kelly and for his dirty hit on Ravens QB Joe Flacco. I have always seen Alonso as one of those solid depth guys that you can rely on during a game and he has faired as such while bouncing around the league. Alonso played a total of six seasons while being active for nine. His injuries held him back from being a great player, but he has surely made his mark as a fun fact in league history.
