Broncos and QB Wilson Agree on 5-Year $245M Extension
Before Wilson even touches the field in Denver, the Broncos proclaim their faith in the QB with a big ol' sack of cash. With $49M APY this puts Wilson as the league's second-highest paid QB and highest paid player in Bronco's history, without ever taking a snap.
I believe the Wilson can be worth this much, however, I would have waited to see what exactly he was bringing to the table in year one first. The Broncos have already invested so much draft capital in him in the Seattle trade and now here they are again putting all their eggs in one basket, setting this up to possibly blow up in their face.
This also is setting up Ravens' QB Lamar Jackson's ever looming contract to be up to the magic number of $250M. With more Miami rumors swarming around Jackson, the QB market is booming and teams should look to buy in now before we start seeing contracts in the 300s.
