Cowboys Add Future HOFer, Steelers Announce QB1

Cowboys sign OT Jason Peters

After a weekend full of talks, the Cowboys sign future HOF OT Jason Peters to a one-year deal to replace the injured Tyron Smith.

Previously I believed that Dallas would ride with rookie OT Tyler Smith, but now it seems they want a little more insurance with a league veteran like Peters. Peters was a solid starter with the Bears last season, but I would be worried that he is obviously in decline and likely playing his final games this season.

At the worst Peters brings leadership and coaching to their younger OL in hopes of rehab and continuing to keep their once elite unit. The 40-year-old will start with the Cowboys' practice squad to ease him into playing condition

Mitch Trubisky to Start Week 1 for Steelers

In a surprising turn of events, the Steelers decide to role with Trubisky as their Week 1 starter and keep rookie QB Kenny Pickett on standby.

I do not think Trubisky is the best QB on this roster and that we will likely see Pickett at some point this season. I more see this as HC Mike Tomlin holding on to the idea of having a rookie QB sit and learn rather than start. I feel that this is an outdated idea since many of our star QBs today are young guys that sat for less than a full season.

Tomlin and the Steelers look to continue their tradition of never having a losing season during his tenure.
