You never know when you're starting quarterback will go down and the next man up always has to be ready. I am always intrigued to see these no name backups, make their statement on the league and earn themselves job security as well as millions of dollars to ride the bench. So this year I've decided to rank them as they replace our beloved starters.
3. Cooper Rush, DAL (-)
Rush came in late during SNF to replace the injured Dak Prescott, so he did not have much time to prepare or fix the hole Dallas already dug. Rush threw a little over 50% for 64yds, surprisingly outplaying Dak while still lashing out a subpar performance.
2. Joe Flacco, NYJ (-)
In the ultimate revenge game, Joe Flacco's return to Baltimore wasn't horrible, but but also wasn't exciting. Flacco launched out nearly 60 passes for 307yds, a TD, and an INT. The Jets were probably never going to win this game against a money-hungry Lamar Jackson who will play his heart out in every game to get his bag. At this point in Flacco's career, you honestly can't ask for much more from him and I expect him to float in the middle of the pack all year.
1. Jacoby Brissett, CLE (-)
The lone winner of the group this week is Jacoby Brissett. In this forgettable game against Carolina, Brissett didn't let ol' Baker Mayfield get to him as he was able to go back and forth and lead his team to victory. Brissett went 18 for 34 and 143yds for a touchdown. Brissett is the obvious choice for number one this week by being our only successful backup so far.
