Next Man Up!: Backup QB Rankings Week Two

This week we welcome a new member to the list, SF QB Jimmy Garoppolo. We also get to see a MNF scrimmage and the matchup for the ages between two backup QBs that was surely an electric competition.

Next Man Up! Week Two

6. Case Keenum, BUF 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds

In a blowout victory against the Titans both teams opted to bring out the backups. Keenum somehow went nearly half a game doing absolutely nothing. A reminder that this is the guy that led the Vikings to an NFC Championship appearance. If the Bills meet an untimely injury to star QB Josh Allen I'd be worried for them. Personally I'd lile to see Matt Barkley on the active roster ratger than watch Keenum.

5. Malik Willis, TEN 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 25%, 6yds

The most hyped third round rookie QB you have ever seen joined in the MNF 2nd-string extravaganza in the third quarter of a blowout loss. Willis performed slightly better than his counterpart Case Keenum. Was hoping to see an actual showcase of the Liberty product, but we will have to wait until the Titans are out of contention and out on Tannehill.

4. Cooper Rush 🌟, DAL 1-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 61.3%, 235yds, 1 TD

While Rush was able to pull off the upset this week, he was just meh. Of course, he's in to play safe and try not to lose, so he is doing his job. It's just not exciting. I can't justify him being above the rest of our QBs so for now, he stays at the bottom. However, since he was capable enough to beat the AFC champion Bengals, Rush gets a gold star for effort.

3. Jimmy Garoppolo, SF 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 61.9%, 154yds, 1 TD

Long time, no see Jimmy G. Garoppolo fills in for the 49ers now that they have lost Lance for the season. Garoppolo beats up on a depleted Seattle roster and easily gets the win this week. Jimmy G is our first member to officially be the starter, barring an injury we'll be seeing him around the Backup Club all season. You may find this unfair to the rest of the list, but we all know the Jimmy G experience is a rollercoaster.

2. Jacoby Brissett, CLE 1-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 81.5%, 229yds, 1 TD 1 INT

Jacoby Brissett meets his peer Joe Flacco for a backup QB duel. this game had the Browns dominating on the ground with RB Nick Chubb scoring 3 TDs along with Brissett's amazingly accurate dink-and-dunk playstyle. To their dismay, the Brown's defense allowed the Jets to fly back into the game on the wings of our number one QB, the Elite Joe Flacco.

1. Joe Flacco 🌟, NYJ 1-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 59.1%, 307yds, 4 TD

Joe "Motherfucking" Flacco, blew up in Sunday's comeback win against the Cleveland Browns. After disappointing in his Baltimore homecoming, Flacco decided to take out his frustrations on the Browns by throwing a whopping FOUR touchdowns including the game-winning dart to rookie WR Garrett Wilson and two in the final two minutes of the game. If Rush's performance was worth a gold star from me, Flacco deserves 12 for showing what backups are worth. However, to keep things fair Flacco will have to settle for the single gold star.
