Next Man Up!: Backup QB Rankings Week Three

A surprise appearance of another backup QB, an embarrassing performance, and primetime showcases of some of our favorite guys.

Next Man Up! Week Three

Back to the Bench

All good things must come to an end and so our guests must make their way back to the locker room and wait to be called upon once more.

Case Keenum, BUF 1-0
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds

Malik Willis, TEN 0-1
Most Recent Performance: 25%, 6yds

Keenum and Willis were garbage-time players during their matchup, so no surprise that they weren't going to be with us long.

The Rankings

5. Teddy Bridgewater, MIA 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds, 0 TD

Teddy Bridgewater came in after a short and questionably mishandle injury break for Tua Tagoviloa in a hard-fought battle against Buffalo. The veteran did absolutely nothing a la Case Keenum granted he was robbed of finishing the game out. It is hard to grade guest appearances because typically the few plays they are in will not define the game and since there were no big plays Teddy B finds himself at the bottom of my list.

4. Jimmy Garoppolo, SF 1-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 62%, 211yds, 1 TD, 1 INT

Ok, I was wrong. Jimmy Garoppolo does not change anything for the Niners and he may be worse than he ever was. He lost a very uneventful game against fellow disappointing QB Russell Wilson and the Broncos. I also believe he could the first player to ever give up a safety and pick-six in the same play. Jimmy G saved infamous QB-turned-ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky from his most embarrassing moment by accidentally running out the back of the endzone for a safety giving the Broncos two points. Final score SF 10 DEN 11.

3. Cooper Rush ⭐️⭐️, DAL 2-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 67.7%, 215yds, 1 TD

Rush coming in with another clutch performance by keeping the Cowboys' season alive in Dak Prescott's absence. The real reason Rush gets a gold star performance is by saving me from writing about the Giants being 3-0 despite having a terrible team. Being smart with his throws he has also managed to avoid throwing a single interception this season. Earlier this week Cowboys' Owner Jerry Jones joked that there could be an open competition when Dak gets back and I'd like to pretend Cooper Rush could duke it out. Keyword: pretend.

2. Joe Flacco ⭐️, NYJ 1-2 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 53.8%, 285yds, 0 TD, 2 INT

Joe Flacco has come back down to earth after his gold star last week and had another down game against the Bengals. Flacco week was fun, but I am already tired of it and for the Jets' sake hope they get Zach Wilson back soon. Perhaps next week Flacco can buck up on his former rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and fight for his ranking on my meaningless blog.

1. Jacoby Brissett, CLE 2-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 67.7%, 220yds, 2 TD

Brissett does it again, leading a skillful march to victory against the Steelers on TNF. Watching this game I can see that Brissett is so calm and does what he needs to do to put his team in the best position to win, and that is to hand the ball off. Brissett is the only one of our QBs to not have a poor performance on the gridiron. He is not as exciting as Flacco but his floor is much higher. He is the most consistent QB we have and that earns him this week's #1 spot.
