QB Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens agree to disagree on contract negotiations and will hold off on talks until after the 2023 season.
Former MVP Lamar Jackson chooses to play out the final year of his rookie deal in hopes of getting a fully guaranteed contract from Baltimore. Jackson is likely looking to follow suit of Deshaun Watson in the $230M range, if not exceeding it.
Jackson has been an above-average QB since entering the league in 2017 and the Ravens need to lock him up to guarantee any long-term success. Choking hazards aside, it is hard to pass up on this generation's Michael Vick over a contract dispute in an era where the salary cap seemingly does not exist.
I am always here for QB drama and would be interested in where Lamar could go if he were to leave Baltimore. Jackson would have to go to a team built to win. A team I'd like to float is the Buccaneers. Tom Brady has to retire at some point (right?) and with him nearing the end of his career (again), the Bucs could look to go the Broncos route of continuing success by luring someone else's QB to lead them to the promised land. This team has already won once and will not stop competing any time soon, especially if they find a proper replacement for the greatest to ever do it. In real life, Jackson will be franchise tagged if not signed next offseason and will probably re-sign with the Ravens in an unexciting fashion.
