Broncos Sign RB Latavius Murray Off of Saints' Practice Squad
After losing starting RB Javonte Williams last week to a torn ACL, Denver seems to have themselves stuck with Melvin "Butterfingers" Gordon as their only option. They turn to recently elevated Saints' RB Latavius Murray to fill the RB room in Williams' absence. The veteran back was once a key piece to the Saints' offense, but due to his age, he was relegated to PS until he was needed. Sunday, Murray was called upon to fill in for the injured Alvin Kamara for New Orleans' London showdown against Minnesota. Murray has always been a solid ground and pound back since his days in Oakland. With Gordon being a liability this is very much needed if the Broncos want to put their offense in the best position to excel. Murray did not play Thursday night due to the quick turnaround and will be expected to play his share in Week 6 versus the Chargers.
Tampa Bay Wide Receiver Cole Beasley Retires Shortly After Signing
I have to admit, I did not even realize that Beasley had signed with the Bucs until he was called up due to the many injuries and suspensions in the WR room. Beasley had notable stints with the Cowboys and Bills before landing with the Buccaneers. Playing slightly over a decade, Beasley was a notable slot receiver that could make a play when needed but was never a star on his teams. He steps away from the game to spend more time as a husband and father, unlike his unnamed teammate who refuses to hang it up and forever chases glory.
Ravens Sign Ex-Cardinals Receiver Andy Isabella
Andy Isabella was once a promising draft pick for the Cardinals, but now with a very crowded WR room, Arizona was forced to move on. The speedy 2nd-rounder finds a home quickly after clearing waivers with the Baltimore Ravens. Coincidentally the Ravens sent their speedy 1st-round WR, Hollywood Brown, to the Cardinals on draft night. I have been hammering home the fact that the ravens need a playmaker that they haven't had since Steve Smith Sr., although I doubt Isabella is the player they are looking for, it is a step in the right direction.
