Panthers Part Ways With HC Matt Rhule

After a brutal 1-4 start the Carolina Panthers have fired HC Matt Rhule early in his third season. Rhule looked to have a promising rebuild ahead of him and has not been able to win more than 5 games a season during his tenure.

I equate Rhule to today's version of Chip Kelly minus GM role. Rhule messed up by trying to only add guys he liked personally or coached in college, instead of trying to put the absolute best product on the field. His other mistake was not being comitted to a QB. Granted the Panthers did not have a bonafide starter at the time of his hire. He has avoided getting a star QB. He botched a trade for Matt Stafford and missed out on drafting QBs such as Justin Fields and Mac Jones, instead Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, PJ Walker, Sam Darnold, and now Baker Mayfield have all started for this sad team.

Rhule's firing was inevitable and now DC and former Cardinals HC Steve Wilks takes over as the interim HC.
