Next Man Up! Backup QB Rankings Week Ten

An impromptu backup showdown headlines our week as the Cardinals and Rams both lost their QBs prior to their Week 10 matchup. We also lose a backup unjustly and we are a little sad about it.

Next Man Up! Week Ten

Back to the Bench

All good things must come to an end and so our guests must make their way back to the locker room and wait to be called upon once more.

Case Keenum, BUF 1-0 (5)
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds, 0 TD

Joe Flacco ⭐️, NYJ 1-2 (2)
Most Recent Performance: 53.8%, 285yds, 0 TD, 2 INT

Tyrod Taylor, NYG 1-0 (10)
Most Recent Performance: 67%, 11yds, 0 TD, 1 INT

Brian Hoyer, NE 0-1 (9)
Most Recent Performance: 83.3%, 37yds, 0 TD

Saquon Barkley ⭐️, NYG 1-0 (8)
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds, 0 TD

Jacob Eason, CAR 0-1 (9)
Most Recent Performance: 60%, 59yds, 0 TD

Cooper Rush ⭐️⭐️⭐️, DAL 4-2 (3)
Most Recent Performance: 58.1%, 181yds, 1 TD, 3 INT

Skylar Thompson, MIA 0-2 (10)
Most Recent Performance: 53.8%, 89yds, 0 TD

Teddy Bridgewater, MIA 1-3 (4)
Most Recent Performance: 67.6%, 329yds, 2 TD, 2 INT

 Chad Henne, KC 1-0 (10)
Most Recent Performance: 0%, 0yds, 0 TD

Brock Purdy, SF 0-1 (9)
Most Recent Performance: 44.4%, 66yds, 0 TD, 1 INT

Brett Rypien, DEN 0-1 (8)
Most Recent Performance: 52.2%, 225yds, 0 TD, 1 INT

Bailey Zappe ⭐️⭐️⭐️, NE 2-2 (2)
Most Recent Performance: 63.6%, 185, 1 TD, 2 INT

Malik Willis, TEN 1-2 (8)
Most Recent Performance: 31.3%, 80yds, 0 TD

Sam Ehlinger, IND 0-2 (5)
Most Recent Performance: 51.7%, 103yds, 0 TD, 0 INT

Thank God that Malik Willis is back on the bench, like jeez that guy sucked, but also how unfair is it that Sam Ehlinger was benched at game time for Matt Ryan? Colts' interim HC Jeff Saturday committed to Ehlinger when he took on the job, only to go back on that and start Matt Ryan last second against the Raiders. Granted it worked out, but that's still pretty messed up.

The Rankings

8. Kenny Pickett, PIT 2-4 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 60%, 199yds, 1 TOT TD

When your QB and WR2 both have a touchdown, you would assume it was a passing one, but not these guys. Pickett and George Pickens both racked up rushing touchdowns and I am not sure what to make of it. I am proud of Pickett for not throwing any interceptions in this game, it's almost as if every time he throws zero interceptions his team wins... oh wait, they do.

7. P.J. Walker ⭐️⭐️, CAR 2-4 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 62.5%, 108yds, 0 TD

Walker gets his revenge against the Falcons, but at what cost? He followed up his mid-game benching with another bad performance and then suffered a high ankle sprain. This injury sidelines him next week where we dread to see Baker Mayfield pretend to still be a professional NFL quarterback.

6. Andy Dalton ⭐️⭐️, NO 2-5 (3)
Most Recent Performance  44.4%, 174yds, 1 TD, 2 INT

The Red Rifle shot blanks this week in a sad loss to the Steelers. Somehow Andy Dalton has unofficially won a QB competition against Jameis Winston and is expected to start again next week against the Rams.

5. John Wolford, LAR 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 66.7%, 212, 1 TD, 1 INT

With Matt Stafford sidelined in concussion protocol, John Wolford makes his first start of the season. Wolford played strong in a loss against the Cardinals while getting beat left and right, leading to his own injury concerns. Wolford left shortly during the game for third-stringer Bryce Perkins to not do too much.

4. Jacoby Brissett ⭐️ , CLE 3-6 (0)
Most Recent Performance: 62.9%, 212yds, 1 TD

Your average Browns thumping. Cleveland did not stand a chance against the red-hot Dolphins and Brissett was not going to change that no matter what.

COUNTDOWN TO [REDACTED]: THREE WEEKS

3. Colt McCoy ⭐️, ARI 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 70.3%, 238yds, 1 TD

After Kyler Murray aggravated a hamstring injury sustained earlier in the season, McCoy comes in on short notice to lead the team to victory. Colt connected with seven different targets and was able to effectively move the ball through the air. The career backup earns a Gold Star Performance by showing off the uniquely unique set of skills he has as a backup in this league.

2. Jimmy Garoppolo ⭐️, SF 5-3 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 67.9%, 240yds, 0 TD

I was right in thinking the 49ers would be a problem. We have also learned that Garoppolo does his best signal-calling when he gets out of the team's way. Bizarrely, Jimmy G is the winningest quarterback in NFL history when he does not throw any touchdowns. Of course, my dear sweet Chargers have to fall victim to this stat, but I should be used to this by now.

1. Heinicke ⭐️⭐️⭐️, WSH 3-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 58.6%, 211yds, 0 TD, 1 INT

Passing stats aside, Taylor Heinicke beat the formerly undefeated Eagles. The Commanders are back in the playoff race thanks to their new QB. Heinicke gets the GSP and ties our record with three. I must reiterate that there is no reason to see Wentz on the field again for this team, it's time to commit to "Him"nickie.
