Week 12 shows us the biggest week in backups we've had in a while. Multiple benchings this week led to some interesting characters. Let's check them out.
Next Man Up! Week Twelve

No important benchings this week, three of the four were garbage-time players and Colt McCoy was a placeholder so Kyler Murray could grind on COD.
The Rankings
12. Skylar Thompson, MIA 1-2 (2)
Most Recent Performance: 20%, 6yds, 0 TD
Most Recent Performance: 20%, 6yds, 0 TD
A garbage time appearance leads to another garbage stat line for Thompson. Not even worth writing about, if we're being honest.
11. Bryce Perkins, LAR 0-2 (2)
Most Recent Performance: 56.5%, 100yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
The biggest Super Bowl hangover known to man continues. As Stafford continues to suffer from a concussion the Rams return to Bryce Perkins. Of course, he has low expectations against an elite team like the Chiefs, but they should have spared the viewers and forfeited the game.
10. Trevor Siemian, CHI 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 56%, 179yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Last second start for Siemian as Justin Fields was not able to go. Siemian was also injured which almost led to a Nathan Peterman sighting. Siemian toughed it out and got whomped by fellow backup Mike White and his Jets.
9. Sam Darnold ⭐️, CAR 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 57.9%, 164yds, 1 TD
It's Darnold time in Carolina and he finally brings a W to the city of Charlotte. Of course it was against the dumpster fire Broncos and the Russell Wilson trade looks worse and worse as the weeks go, by. I highly doubt Darnold finishes the season as QB1, but I'll give him his credit as a leader on this team.
8. Kenny Pickett, PIT 3-5 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 71.4%, 174yds, 0 TD
Most Recent Performance: 71.4%, 174yds, 0 TD
Pickett is now interception-less for the third week in a row and he is 2-1 since this streak. I am still out on Pickett, but I am happy to see that the team as a whole is coming together to be able to win tight games rather than relying on a subpar QB to bail them out.
7. Kyle Allen, HOU 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 66.7%, 215yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
Allen was seemingly thrown to the wolves....er, Dolphins this week in his first start after replacing Davis Mills. He has experience in the league so he cannot be much worse than Davis Mills. The big challenge will be how well he can keep Houston's dignity as they face their most forceful opponent yet, [REDACTED].
6. Jordan Love ⭐️, GB 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 66.7%, 113yds, 1 TD
I may be getting soft, but here's another GSP loss in the books. Jordan Love looks way better than he did last season and the GSP is mainly for his development under Rodgers. However, Rodgers has stated he will be good to go this week and he will not be giving the reigns to Love of his own accord.
5. Andy Dalton ⭐️⭐️⭐️, NO 3-5 (1)
Most Recent Performance 62.1%, 204yds, 0 TD
Dalton and company were blanked on Sunday by the Garollercoaster. Dalton put up a meh stat line, but I wouldn't blame him for the loss. Dalton has sparingly had terrible games and keeps his reputation as the Dalton line as the meridian of backups.
4. Jacoby Brissett ⭐️⭐️⭐️ , CLE 4-7 (0)
Most Recent Performance: 62.2%, 210yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
I took Brissett for granted. I never thought I'd miss him as much as I do now. As his reign comes to an end, he defeats his old mentor Tom Brady in OT and laid out a defender as a lead blocker. It's been a ride Jack, not sure if the Brownies will be the same without you.
3. Mike White ⭐️, NYJ 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 78.6%, 315yds, 3 TD
The man, the myth, the legend. Mike White steals the starting job from Zach Wilson AND Joe Flacco and immediately impresses. White had a string of impressive performances last season during Wilson's absence, and as we know, the team went back to Zach, but this year looks very different.
2. Taylor Heinicke ⭐️⭐️⭐️, WSH 5-1 (0)
Most Recent Performance: 61.0%, 138yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
another clutch win by "Him"nickie to control the 7th seed in the NFC playoff race. How this Washington team has turned around under his tenure is amazing. I imagine that if "Him"nickie started the year off as QB1 they'd be at least the 5th seed. Doesn't sound that impressive, but it's hard when you can be a top team in the league and still be a WC if the only team better than you is in your division.
1. Jimmy Garoppolo ⭐️⭐️, SF 7-3 (0)
Most Recent Performance: 70.3%, 222yds, 1 TD
A very Jimmy G game this week, low-scoring and a shut-out. Jimbo stayed out of the teams way and the defense won the game. The Garollercoaster keeps going up and I am worried they may come crashing down soon. The NFC playoff race is tight and the 49ers need to keep pace in order to pull away from the Seahawks and avoid having to navigate the NFC East for a playoff spot.
