We lost two of our biggest backups in Week 13 and we take a peak into some new long-term backups for next week.
Next Man Up! Week Thirteen

Jacoby Brissett ⭐️⭐️⭐️ , CLE 4-7 (4)
Most Recent Performance: 62.2%, 210yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Darnold hits a Bye Week to get right and Rodgers comes back fast to bench Love. Perkins loses QB1 responsibilities as Wolford takes over on TNF. We also finally see the benching of Jacoby Brissett due to the return of [ REDACTED ].
The Rankings
10. C.J. Beathard, JAX 0-1 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 66.7%, 6yds, 0 TD
A late injury to Trevor Lawrence leads to a Beathard appearance in a game where they got beat hard (pun intended) by the Lions. Nothing much to report in garbage time. Beathard was once a premier backup with San Francisco, but we will see what he brings to the field once we know more about Lawrence's injury.
9. Kyle Allen, HOU 0-2 (2)
Most Recent Performance: 51.3%, 201yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
The Texans looked miserable in the ultimate [ REDACTED ] revenge game and to make it even more embarrassing the Browns did not score a single offensive touchdown. Allen was then benched following the game and we will see Davis Mills back in the saddle down in Houston.
8. John Wolford, LAR 0-2 (3)
Most Recent Performance: 53.8%, 178yds, 0 TD, 2 INT
Wolford earns a start for the Rams and plays below average. He leaned heavily on the running game and K Matt Gay to keep them in the game versus Seattle. The signing of QB Baker Mayfield puts Wolford's season in doubt even without an injury and we may have already found out by the time this will be published.
7. Kenny Pickett, PIT 4-5 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 57.1%, 197yds, 1 TD
Most Recent Performance: 57.1%, 197yds, 1 TD
Pickett shows he is not as bad as we think by winning this trash fest against the Falcons. I will say that I am happier with Pickett's improvement as the season goes along. He is not winning the games himself, but by not turning the ball over he is keeping them alive. The Steelers are now 3-1 in their last four games and Pickett is learning how to succeed in this league.
6. Tyler Huntley, BAL 1-0 (NR)
Most Recent Performance: 84.4%, 187yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
Huntley comes in after a knee injury to Lamar Jackson early in a matchup against the Broncos. He is expected to start against the Steelers next week and honestly, I'd put my money on him rather than Pittsburgh. Huntley is basically a worse version of Lamar, but the simplified game plan could benefit the Ravens by just taking a step back and working with what they have. If he can lead the Ravens against a strong Denver defense he can surely repeat against a lesser one.
5. Andy Dalton ⭐️⭐️⭐️, NO 3-6 (0)
Most Recent Performance 71.4%, 229yds, 1 TD
Dalton was once again shamed by his defense. In a game where they lead Tom Brady by six with two minutes left, they let him march down the field and win the game. New Orleans is looking bad no matter who is at QB. Typically, I would lump Dalton in as the problem, but no one expected him to do great things and he is doing his best to no avail.
4. Brock Purdy ⭐️, SF 1-1 (5)
Most Recent Performance: 67.6%, 210yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
I refused to even write a blurb for Brock Purdy during his last showing and now Mr. Irrelevant has shown me what he is really made of. Purdy stepped in for Jimmy G and demolished the red-hot Miami Dolphins and continued to solidify the Niners lead in the NFC West.
3. Mike White ⭐️, NYJ 1-1 (0)
Most Recent Performance: 54.4%, 369yds, 0 TD, 2 INT
The Jets leaned heavily on White by passing nearly SIXTY times. It's obvious that he is the right choice for being under center, but he just couldn't work his magic on Sunday. White led a massive comeback against the Vikings where they just fell short by not being able to convert on the goal line on the final drive of the game. This loss is not the biggest blow to the Jets' playoff hopes, however, they are now vulnerable to those teams in the hunt.
2. Jimmy Garoppolo ⭐️⭐️, SF 8-3 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 50%, 56yds, 0 TD
The Garollercoaster goes off the rails and is set ablaze. Jimmy G spontaneously has a season-ending injury and we are forced to say goodbye to our sweet prince. I was excited to see how he would fare this winter in games that counted, but now he will be on the sidelines dreaming about what could have been.
1. Taylor Heinicke ⭐️⭐️⭐️, WSH 5-1-1 (1)
Most Recent Performance: 65.9%, 275yds, 2 TD
Heinickie had a chance to win this late in the fourth and stalled out leading to a very uneventful overtime period. Ties in football are very strange and with the NFC East being as competitive as ever, this tie complicates it even more. Their next matchup against New York has already been flexed to primetime as Heinicke and the Commanders continue to fight for a wildcard spot.
New Challenger Approaching!
As we know the Los Angeles Rams have claimed Baker Mayfield off of waivers. Despite being on the team for not even a week, there are rumors that we may see him on TNF against the Raiders and even for the remainder of the season. We also learn that the Atlanta Falcons will be benching Marcus Mariota in favor of rookie QB Desmond Ridder.
