From stunning rookie sensation to unemployed. The Carolina Panthers plan to release Baker Mayfield after trading for him this past offseason. Mayfield has had his struggles since leaving Cleveland and has been a complete failure for the Panthers.
Mayfield was expected to at least make the Panthers look like they have a pulse, but instead he has been benched twice and relegated to a 3rd string QB. Mayfield may see interest as a full-time backup, but I do not see him getting any more shots at a starting job despite teams like the 49ers desperately needing help.
