The Marcus Mariota era in Atlanta is officially over. After being benched for rookie QB Desmond Ridder and basically quitting on the team midseason, the Falcons and Mariota have decided to part ways. Mariota struggled a lot in Atlanta, but with a lackluster roster it was expected. His replacement, Desmond Ridder was also unimpressive and Atlanta continues to search for their QB.
The big rumor is that the team is gearing up to make a run for Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, but cheaper options may include Derek Carr or even Ryan Tannehill if he is made available. For Mariota, skillwise he should be hot on the backup QB market, but after his attitude issues, he could be left to wither away in a Spring league.
