Rams Part Ways with future HOFer, Titans Cut Multiple Veterans, Broncos Make Surprising Coaching Moves
LA Rams and LB Bobby Wagner Agree to Part Ways
Veteran LB Bobby Wagner joins the top FA list as he may look for another ring to add to his impressive career. The Rams' cap luck is finally running out and they are forced to make moves to meet league requirements. Wagner seems to be the first of many moves the Rams will make while hitting a soft reboot of their franchise.
After mulling over cap numbers as of now, not many true contenders have the money to afford Wagner and then fill other holes. Ring chasing aside, I'd like to see a homecoming in Seattle for Wagner as he rides off into the sunset after the 2023-24 season.
Titans Cut WR Robert Woods, LT Taylor Lewan, & K Randy Bullock
The Titans come out this week with some serious moves by cutting three starters on their roster. WR Bobby Trees has always been a WR3 kind of guy and his career is winding down, he could reappear on a WR-needy team, but more than likely he will show up as a veteran practice squad player for insurance. Cutting K Fat Randy is less of a surprise as he continues his decline and Tennessee can pretty much find a solid kicker anywhere.
The biggest impact is cutting starting LT Taylor Lewan. Lewan has been injury-riddled for the majority of his career, but he has been nothing short of elite when fully healthy. Lewan has stated that he is mulling early retirement to focus on his popular podcast Bussin' With the Boys and follow in Pat McAfee's footsteps.
Broncos Hire Former HC Vance Joseph as DC and Former Giants' QB Davis Webb as QB Coach
Despite rumors of ESPN's Rex Ryan resuming his coaching career, Sean Payton opts for former Broncos HC and Cardinals DC Vance Joseph for the same position. Joseph was let go from Denver initially after going 11-21 over two seasons. Joseph led a subpar defense in Arizona, but he hopes to bring back the spark to the Denver D that fizzled out under Nathaniel Hackett.
Another surprising move as Sean Payton takes a QB off the market by hiring Davis Webb as QB coach. Webb has spent his entire career with (insert NY team here) as a backup QB and is now tasked with resurrecting Russell Wilson from the depths of QB Hell.
Unbiased, I believe that the Broncos are heading down a dark path, and by putting their faith in Payton and Wilson, they will be a meme for years to come. With their new owner, they need a hard reset in every way possible. By avoiding this they are consistently underwhelming and treading water while not adding any substance to the franchise.
