Carr Unwilling to Waive No-Trade Clause and Paves Way for his Release
Derek Carr recently visited the New Orleans Saints to gauge their interest as a trade partner with the Raiders. The Saints and Raiders then agreed upon a trade for the QB dependent on Carr's approval.
With most of the trade details unkown, we can deduce one thing, the Saints were unwilling to include his $40.5 million roster bonus due to him on Wednesday by the Raiders. Therefore Derek Carr declined to waive his no-trade clause and the Raiders have no choice but to release him.
Carr will have a strong market with quite a few teams looking to fill a need at QB. The Saints should not be counted out as if Carr gets his bonus from the Raiders he could very easily make his way to New Orleans as a free agent and save the Saints a lot of capital they would have given up in a trade. Wherever Carr ends up, one thing is for certain, he definitely stuck it to the Raiders front office on his way out the door.
